Logistics for Conference / Interim Meeting / Tour

The Activities surrounding our stay in Accra Ghana are as follows:
  1. The ASI conference and Interim Committee Meeting will convene on Jan 12th, 13th & 14th 2008 at the African Queen Lodge Conference Room in Accra.
  2. The tour to The Elmina Castle on January 15, 2008 The tour to The Marketplace on January 17, 2008.
  3. Accra community Event January 16, 2008 - Chairman Omali as Keynote Speaker
The cost for our stay in Accra is broken down into 2 time frames:
  1. Stays for the entire 8 days of activities.
  2. Stays for 4 days of activities (individuals who will be attending the conference, only, thus requiring housing and food for 3 days and departing on the 4th day.)
The cost includes:
  1. Hotel room with breakfast
  2. Each individual bears a portion of the hall rental for the 3 days of conference.
  3. Tour of Elmina Castle and the Marketplace, including tour transportation.
  4. Meals

Hotel

The hotel is the "African Queen Lodge" in Accra.

There will be 2 individuals per room. The rooms may vary in size from king to double. The larger rooms may be utilized for more than 2 individuals if need be. The prices reflected will be shared by however many individuals there may be in a given room. We understand that breakfast will be included with the rooms except in the case of single rooms.

Package Payment

The ASI has paid a deposit to reserve our rooms. Your package should be paid for in the following manner:

  • In the U.S:
    • cash or money orders made to ASI travel can be given to Gaida Kambon no later than Dec. 23, 2007.
    • Ghananian money (cedis) can be given to Gaida upon arrival in Ghana.
  • In the U.K.: GBP can be give to Luwesi Kinshasa no later than Jan. 5th 2008

Rooms will be assigned by Gaida Kambon the logistical coordinator.

The housing is available in 2 packages:

  • Package #1 = 8-Day Stay
    • room with breakfast x 8 days (2 individuals)
    • conference cost
    • transportation to castle tour
    • castle cost
    TOTAL Cost of Package: $228.13 (£114.13) per person
  • Package #2 = 4-Day Stay
    • Room with breakfast
    TOTAL: $107 (£53.50) per individual

Please Note: No resources must be given to, or individual negotiation held with, hotel management for any reason.

Meals

The meals are not included in the above package because we have not been able to obtain a specific cost at this time. We are currently working with costs that ranges between $4 to $6 (£2 to £3) per day for lunch and dinner. Please prepare to pay for meals separately at this time.

Tour

The tour will take us to Elmina Castle and The Marketplace. Included in the Package Costs is the transportation cost to the castle and the castle cost.

Airport Transportation

Taxis to and from the airport are $17 (£8.50) each way (4 person per cab). The ride is relatively far. Taxis around town are relatively cheap. Cross town will cost no more than $5 (£2.50). This cost is not included in your package. Please be prepared to pay at airport.
